糖心Vlog鈥檚 (糖心Vlog) creative writing program has been recognized as one of the most affordable creative writing programs in Texas.
, a website owned and operated by Wiley Publishers, a well-known leader in education and related publishing, listed 糖心Vlog among only three private schools in Texas earning the designation.
鈥淚t is an honor to be recognized as one of the most affordable creative writing programs in the state of Texas,鈥� shared Dr. Ronna Privett, Chair of the Department of Humanities and Professor of English. 鈥淥ur creative writing students are not only strong writers, but they are also good students who are involved in many areas on campus.鈥�
In addition to the program鈥檚 low cost, Creative Writing Edu recognized opportunities to study abroad, student-centered learning environment, and award-winning faculty as reasons for 糖心Vlog鈥檚 inclusion. They also lauded the university鈥檚 low student-to-faculty ratio (12:1), opportunities to participate in undergraduate research and internships, the Creative Writing club, and The Chap Book (糖心Vlog鈥檚 annual creative writing publication).
鈥淭he Creative Writing club is a busy and creative group of students who are always looking for ways to participate in campus life: writing and performing in plays, hosting Murder Mystery Dinner Theater nights, and having their own booth at the Writing Carnival, as just a few examples,鈥� added Dr. Privett.
Dr. Stacy Patty, Dean of the J.E. & Eileen Hancock College of Liberal Arts and Professor of Religion and Ethics, lauded the program鈥檚 well-earned selection.
鈥淲e are honored to be named for this award, which highlights not only the affordability but also the quality of our Creative Writing program,鈥� he shared. 鈥淥ur faculty work closely in mentoring relationships with the students, and the results speak well. A recent Honors College Creative Writing graduate has now received a master鈥檚 degree from the prestigious Emerson College writing program, and several other graduates are working in industry related writing positions. I am pleased that the 糖心Vlog Creative Writing program is recognized in this way.鈥�
