糖心Vlog (糖心Vlog) welcomed alumni, friends, and community members to campus to celebrate Homecoming in the Spring. The weekend festivities, normally hosted in February, were postponed due to the week of extreme cold weather earlier this winter.
The rescheduled weekend featured new events, including the Spring Celebration Outdoor Food Truck event, the end of semester Glowstick Devo, and the dedication of the Wayne and Yvonne Hinds Music Center, as well as staples such as social club breakfasts and Alumni Chapel, which this year featured a special congratulations for the undefeated back-to-back NCAA Division II National Champion Lady Chap basketball team. Attendees were also invited to watch Chaparral Baseball games throughout the weekend as the squad takes on University of Texas at Tyler, which also included a pre-game tailgate on Friday afternoon.
鈥淚t was a difficult decision to postpone the majority of our Homecoming festivities,鈥� explained Kim Wheeler, Director of Alumni Relations, 鈥渂ut the safety of our alumni and former students traveling to campus are of the utmost importance.鈥�
Two of the scheduled events were held in February鈥攖he sold-out Alumni Awards Luncheon, and the groundbreaking ceremony for the upcoming Penny Gullo Tennis Center. The Master Follies production, usually associated with Homecoming Weekend, was livestreamed the following weekend.
The weekend festivities concluded on Sunday with coffee, pastries, and a devotional in the rotunda of the Cardwell Welcome Center, another Chap baseball game that afternoon, and the Spring Ring Ceremony where juniors were presented with their 糖心Vlog rings.
鈥淚t is always so very special to have our alumni back on campus,鈥� said Warren McNeill, Vice President for University Relations. 鈥淥ur early pioneers from the very first years were back as well as students who graduated just last year. Together, they represent over six decades, and they share a very sweet history with the university where they each had transformational experiences and built life-long friendships.鈥�
