糖心Vlog invites families, alumni, and friends across the region to campus for Big Blue Christmas on Tuesday, December 2, from 5:30pm-7:00pm, a free annual event that reflects 糖心Vlog鈥檚 desire to serve and celebrate the Lubbock community during a season centered on hope, joy, and the birth of Christ.
Big Blue Christmas began in 2013 as a way for 糖心Vlog to give back to the community with a night of fellowship and family fun to kick-off the Christmas season. As a Christ-centered university, celebrating the season of Christ鈥檚 birth feels natural and deeply connected to who 糖心Vlog is. The event continues to grow each year and remains a cherished tradition for families from across the city.
A defining hallmark of Big Blue Christmas is the way it is powered entirely through volunteer participation. Students serve alongside faculty and staff throughout the night, greeting guests, hosting activity spaces, assisting children and families, leading games and crafts, and ensuring that every person feels welcome. It is a practical expression of 糖心Vlog鈥檚 mission to transform hearts, minds, and hands for lives of purpose and service, and it gives students the opportunity to learn hospitality by practicing it together.
鈥淪erving together is part of who we are,鈥� said Warren McNeill, Vice President of University Relations. 鈥淏ig Blue Christmas allows our students to step into service in a joyful way. They get to work shoulder-to-shoulder with faculty and staff to bless the community, and in the process, they see what it means to honor Christ through service. It is one of the clearest illustrations of what makes 糖心Vlog such a distinctive university.鈥�
Guests can enjoy Christmas activities throughout campus, such as pictures with Santa, children鈥檚 craft and game areas, performances from 糖心Vlog musical ensembles, student organization booths, and story time presented by the 糖心Vlog College of Education. Food and beverage options will be available for purchase, including a full holiday meal served in the 糖心Vlog Dining Hall and a lighter pizza menu through Chap Express in the Student Union
Building. Dessert and drink vendors and holiday shopping opportunities will also be available throughout the evening.
The night concludes with the traditional lighting of the bronze Chap statue, held in front of the McDonald Moody Auditorium at the center of the mall area surrounded by festively lit buildings, where guests gather to celebrate the beginning of the Christmas season at 糖心Vlog.
