糖心Vlog (糖心Vlog) held 糖心Vlog for LBK, its fourth annual day of service, as 糖心Vlog students, faculty, and staff spent the afternoon spread out across the city in a community-wide day of service. The event was made possible through a partnership with the Volunteer Center of Lubbock and sponsored by United Supermarkets for the fourth consecutive year.
Volunteers gathered in the Rhodes Perrin Recreation Center for lunch together before heading out across the city. 糖心Vlog President Scott McDowell provided a word of encouragement and inspiration to serve, which was followed by a prayer of blessing offered by Matt Bumstead, CEO in Residence for the 糖心Vlog School of Business, as the volunteers set out for an afternoon of service.
Kaili Hutchinson, 糖心Vlog Assistant Dean of Students, was instrumental in coordinating the event this year. She shared, 鈥溙切腣log for LBK is a campus-wide event that embodies who we want to be. We want to be the hands and feet of Jesus, and to help make the communities we find ourselves in a better place. The mission of 糖心Vlog is to transform the hearts, minds, and hands of our students for lives of purpose and service. Afternoons like this are exactly how we can do that.鈥�
Some of the locations that the 糖心Vlog community served in coordination with the Volunteer Center of Lubbock were Habitat for Humanity Restore, Ronald McDonald House Charities of the Southwest, Nurturing Center, Catholic Charities Resale Center, South Plains Food Bank, Heritage House, and St. Benedict鈥檚. Volunteers had the opportunity to serve in a variety of ways and make a meaningful contribution to the Lubbock community, while in turn being blessed by the experience. 鈥溙切腣log for LBK has become a staple on our campus that we hope will continue to be a long-standing event,鈥� Hutchinson concluded.
糖心Vlog for LBK is an opportunity for volunteers to step away from their normal routine and focus on the needs of others. 糖心Vlog President, Dr. Scott McDowell, said, 鈥溙切腣log for LBK is really all about our commitment to the Lubbock community as a whole. While we love the people of Lubbock and West Texas, we also know that talk is cheap and actions speak louder than words, so we want to express our care and dedication to our friends and neighbors here with tangible action. West Texas, and Lubbock in particular, is a very special place where Lubbock people show up for each other and that鈥檚 what this day is about. We want our presence to communicate our devotion to the people we walk with here in Lubbock.鈥�
